‘Tis the season for hot cocoa and family gatherings, for ugly-sweater parties and photo-ops with Santa. ‘Tis also the season for spending money. Between the gift-buying, grocery-shopping and travel costs, let’s face it, holidays can be expensive. Your holiday home décor, however, doesn’t have to be.

There are a multitude of resources for savvy holiday socialites to gather ideas for the most sophisticated, festive and stress-free home décor. We’ve given you a head start with a few ideas here, and on our holiday Pinterest board. Gone are the days of relying on store-bought decorations to fit your home’s style and your pocketbook. So whether it’s your first Christmas in your new Maracay Homes’ neighborhood, or you’re looking to spice up something other than grandma’s cider recipe, consider this your place for a little holiday home décor inspiration.

Happy Holi-doors

When guests arrive, the first thing they see is your front door. Why not “spruce” up the classic green wreath with an untraditional, DIY twist? Instead of one large wreath that covers the top third of your door, try tying three small wreaths together with festive ribbon to span entire length of the door. Or for a unique decoration, hang a large Santa hat filled with an assortment of holiday-inspired flowers for a cheerful and unique welcome for guests. Lastly, make use of those old picture frames and extra ornaments and dangle them from the door. Simply tie the ornaments with ribbon to the top of the frame and hang like a wreath!

Sparkle and Shine

The holidays are a magical time, with plenty of décor to reflect the twinkle in children’s eyes. Add sparkle and shine to your home with glitter, crystal and mirror adornments. For easy DIY table toppers, sprinkle glitter onto plastic pears, candle votives and pinecones for beautiful table trimmings. For a flower arrangement with a little winter glow, drape small, fake branches in glitter or crystal-like beads and add white silk flowers to a simple vase.

Let it Snow

Arizonans may dream of white Christmases, but our holidays tend to be anything but. With a few additions and tricks however, Arizonans can bring the magical winter snow indoors.  Epsom salt is a great stand-in for snowy décor. Top the salt with pinecones, candles or artificial cranberry branches in mason jars, bowls or vases for perfect, winter wonderland centerpieces. Add to the dreamy and elegant tablescape with a white lace table runner or a long mirror underneath the centerpieces.
