Maracay Helps School District Secure Land for New School.Posted 11/26/2019
Maracay has long held that schools are the foundation of any great community, which is why we build our homes in regions where quality education is of the utmost priority. The City of Chandler and the Town of Gilbert happen to be two of those areas, and we are excited to announce that we’ve had the unique opportunity to help Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) secure land for a brand-new K-6 elementary school. Located at the northeast corner of 148th Street and Ocotillo Road in Gilbert, the new school will be nearby our signature Waterston master-planned community opening in the spring of 2020 and Canopy, our intimate, garden-inspired community, opening later in 2020.
We worked closely with the property owner and CUSD on securing the 14.5-gross-acre land parcel quickly, enabling CUSD to begin construction on the new school right away and aim for a 2020 school-year opening. The new school will be a vital addition to the immediate area, which is one of the fastest growing regions in the country and continues to attract families for its low crime rate, highly rated schools and easy access to major employers. CUSD is known for providing outstanding educational programs at all grade levels and actively prioritizes academic achievement, as evidenced by test scores that exceed state and national averages.
Families will love that Waterston is located close to the new school. Homes here will feature oversized backyards in a setting that includes a lake-filled 7-acre Central Park, a splash pad, a bocce court, a grand ramada and access to Veterans Oasis Park, a dynamic mixed-use facility with scenic trails, an urban fishing lake, birdwatching perches, picnic areas and an outdoor amphitheater.
But that’s not all. The homes at Waterston will also feature modern architecture and unique floor plans designed with seamless indoor-outdoor space to provide plenty of room for families to grow and thrive.
Meanwhile, Canopy is also near the school and offers its own nature-inspired living experience. This gated community is adjacent to Veterans Oasis Park and has two parks of its own, Canopy Park and Oasis Park. Full of pollinator gardens, raised garden beds, fruit and nut trees, a butterfly garden and an outdoor kitchen, Canopy Park provides a serene escape for residents. Located in the Canopy South neighborhood, Oasis Park encourages residents to stay active with its elevated fitness course, playground and event lawn. And the homes here offer open layouts that connect with the outdoors for a tranquil lifestyle like no other.
As 2020 draws nearer, and our new Maracay communities take shape, we can’t help but look forward to the opening of CUSD’s new elementary school and all the great memories that will be made in the years to come.
