The “official” end of summer is near, but there are plenty of fun activities to be enjoyed after Labor Day weekend. Be sure to take a break from school activities and get out to experience some of these amazing events happening throughout September.
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit at the Heard Museum
Friday, September 1 through Sunday, September 4th
This weekend will be your last chance to see the enchanting works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at the Heard Museum. Due to overwhelming support, the exhibition has been extended through Labor Day weekend. Admission to the special exhibit is $7 in addition to the museum’s general admission fee.
City Lights Movie Nights Featuring Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
Friday, September 8
Every second Friday of the month, bring friends, family and blankets to CityScape and enjoy a free movie at Patriot’s Park. This month’s feature is Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.
102nd Annual Sonoita Labor Day Rodeo
Tuesday, September 2 through Thursday, September 4
Put on your cowboy hat and make your way to the Sonoita Fairgrounds for one of the oldest Old West rodeos in the country. You won’t want to miss barrel racing, a wild-horse race, team roping and more. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids aged 6-12. Free admission for children under 5.
Enclave at The Meadows Neighborhood Gathering
Saturday, September 9 from 12-3pm
Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of our third and final neighborhood at The Meadows! Enjoy tours of the model homes, live music and delicious food. The Meadows is located at the northwest corner of Deer Valley Road & 91st Avenue in Peoria.

Opa! Embrace traditional Greek food, music, dancing, cooking lessons and more at Tucson’s 2017 Greek Festival. The festival is free for children under 12 and seniors 65 and older. $3 regular admission.
Arizona’s Salsa Trail
Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30
Are you a salsa aficionado? Then this free festival might be for you! Arizona’s Salsa Trail celebrates the annual SalsaFest at Safford Town Square in Tucson with a salsa challenge, jalapeno eating competition, vendor marketplace, food booths and more. Bring the whole family for a good time and a little spice.
