Winter is here and it’s time to make spirits bright. Bundle up and embrace the season of togetherness with these festive activities. We’ve gathered a list of our favorites:
12k’s of Christmas Run
Registration: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Run starts at 10 a.m.
Bring the family for a day filled with holiday cheer! The town of Gilbert invites you to join in on a unique 12k run. The day will be packed with Christmas carolers, string orchestras, pet adoptions, a Christmas bazaar and much more. There will also be performances by Campo Verde Jazz Band and Arizona Canine Freestylers. For those who aren’t avid runners, this year will include a new route for 6k runners and walkers. This outdoor festivity is sure to ring in some holiday spirit.
ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo
November 23, 2016 – January 8, 2017
5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
ZooLights is the Valley’s brightest holiday tradition and one of the largest holiday light shows in the country. This 25-year-old attraction shines with millions of lights, a three-story-high holiday tree and hundreds of glistening light displays. Enjoy a perfect night out with some quality time the entire family can appreciate.

Is the snowless desert impeding your holiday spirit? Look no further than a night filled with winter wonderland excitement. La Encantada and Tucson Medical Center present Enchanted Snowfall, a favorite event for the holiday season. The center features a 28-foot holiday tree in the main courtyard, where families can see live snowfall every Friday and Saturday evening for free. Incorporated are various musical groups lined up on different nights and hot chocolate to keep warm.
Holiday Festival of the Arts & Oro Valley Tree Lighting
December 3 & 4
Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Tree Lighting – Saturday, 6 p.m.
The Oro Valley Holiday Festival of the Arts is a two-day festival featuring up to 150 artists and exhibitors, live music, food vendors and holiday tree lighting. Experience the season of joyfulness with activities for the entire family. On Saturday evening, the 35-foot holiday tree will be lit for all to see. This free celebration will feature live entertainment, activities for children, cookie decoration and a special appearance by Santa. Food vendors will be onsite with food and beverages available for purchase.
Peoria’s Old Town Holiday Festival
5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
The city of Peoria invites you and your family to enjoy the annual Old Town Holiday Festival. This event will feature live entertainment, kid zone, a visit from Santa and 20 tons of snow! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. This annual event has been held for over 30 years and is a perfect celebration for the entire family.
