The kids may be going back to school, but summertime fun is still in full swing! Take advantage of the last weekends of summer and check out these events happening in your neighborhood this month:

Buckeye
Splash! Senior Pool Party
Friday, August 4, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Those lucky enough to not have to worry about the hustle and bustle of back-to-school season can head to the Buckeye Aquatics Center for a fun-filled senior pool party. Admission includes a hot dog, chips and soda pop. The event is free for seniors and if anyone else wants to tag along too, admission for their guests is just $1. Pick up your tickets at the Buckeye Community Center or pay at the door.

Chandler
Highland Yard Vintage Market
August 10-13, daily hours vary.
If you’re looking for ways to spice up your home as we transition into fall, check out the Highland Yard Vintage Market. Here you can shop 6,000 square feet of home and garden décor from local designers, curators and makers.

Queen Creek
Summer Sangria Social at the Queen Creek Olive Mill
Sunday, August 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cool down at the Queen Creek Olive Mill this August with four delicious house-made sangrias, tasty tapas and live music. Blankets and chairs are welcome. Pets are even allowed outside in the grove, on leash only.

Mesa
Pre-Eclipse Party at the Arizona Museum of Natural History
Saturday, August 19, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Join the Arizona Museum of Natural History and Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society for an interactive learning experience all about space science. This event is a great way for younger kids to learn more about space and the skies before the total solar eclipse on August 21. Admission to the museum, including the party, is $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 12 years old.

Oro Valley
Teen Dive-in Movie Night Presents “Guardians of the Galaxy”
Saturday, August 26, at 7:30 p.m.
If your teens are already looking for a break from the stress of back-to-school season, check out Oro Valley’s free summer movie series for teens, presented by the Youth Advisory Council. This fun, safe and secure event for Oro Valley teens ages 13-19 is a great place to cool off, hang out with friends and catch a fun flick. The film showing on August 26 is “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Tucson
Salsa, Tequila & Taco Challenge
Sunday, September 3, from 7 to 10 p.m.
It’s never too early to make plans for Labor Day weekend. The Salsa, Tequila & Taco Challenge at La Encantada Shopping Center is sure to be a hit. Tickets for this 21 and over event are $55 and include more than 100 samplings of signature salsa recipes, tequila cocktails & tastings, tacos, Mexican beer, live music and more. This signature community fundraiser is hosted by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
