Spooky season is in full swing and there are tons of ways to celebrate in Gilbert. From thrilling special effect light shows to larger than life pumpkins to practicing your mountain pose among fully costumed goats and alpacas (yes, you read that right), we have something for every goblin and ghoul this Halloween.
1. Prepare for pumpkin carving.
Rated Arizona’s best in the New Times, The Pumpkin Patch at Mother Nature’s Farm is stocked with fresh pumpkins and everything you need for the perfect fall afternoon. Feast your eyes on pumpkins as big as 500lbs. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy dining under big shade trees. Let the kids get their fill of fun. The entrance fee is $10 per child and includes an OZ pumpkin, the air bounce, a hayride, spider web crawl, feeding the animals and Alexander’s Adventure Maze.
2. Tent or treat.
Gilbert’s Made with Love Market features trendy, handmade and local items curated by your favorite small shop owners. Let your kids take their costumes for a test drive the Saturday before Halloween and enjoy some sweet treats, Halloween candy and local goods.
3. Spooktacular balloon show.
For those of you with Halloween first timers and toddlers, the Perry Branch Library has a Halloween kids’ event filled with fantasy and fun. Come dressed up on October 31st from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and partake in the Halloween Spooktacular Balloon Show. Bring a bucket for trick or treating around the library then enjoy Arizona Rick’s balloon creations with storytelling and games!
4. Mazed and confused.
Is it really fall without a fall festival? Carve out some time this month to stop by Vertuccio Farms for their 2019 Corn Maze & Fall Festival. For just $10 per person you get to live out all your autumn dreams with a 5-acre corn maze, pumpkin bowling, spider-web climb, giant jump pad and much more. Go on a Saturday or Sunday and you may even catch a family-friendly magic show courtesy of Jet Veredis.
5. Put on your game-face.
FatCats in Gilbert wants you to really bring it at their Halloween Festival of Fun. On Wednesday October 30th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., you’ll enjoy an evening of bowling, arcades, golf and a costume contest. Categories for the contest include best cat, best superhero and best princess costume. Winners will receive two tickets to the Frozen 2 movie event on 11/23 and a $15 arcade card. If you’re looking for a more lowkey way to celebrate, you can always catch a scary movie like The Joker or The Addams Family.
6. Halloween House of Gilbert.
If you think you’ve seen a house go all out for Halloween, think again. The Halloween House of Gilbert – Tanglewood Terror is screaming with spooky spirit. This thrilling special effects light show is unlike anything suburbia has ever seen before. The house comes alive Friday October 18th through Halloween eve from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lights will be on display every night, but things get especially spooky on the weekends. Gather your friends and prepare for a spectacle.
7. So cute it’s scary.
As if goat yoga wasn’t already spine tinglingly cute, add some costumes to the mix and try not to scream laugh through the whole class. If you don’t feel like getting dressed up, that’s okay! We all know the goats and alpacas will be the real winners of this costume event.
